Sermon Series: God’s Top Ten

When we think of the Ten Commandments, many of us think of a list of rules telling us what not to do. But the truth is God’s Ten Commandments are all about relationship, our relationship with God and others. They are guidelines designed to help us live well. At the time of Jesus, the Ten Commandments were recited every day at the Temple and every Jewish child would have memorized them. Jesus knew and practiced them himself, and Paul referred to them in his letters. So they are important to our Christian faith and practice. We will start with number 10 and work out way up to number 1, where we will conclude with Jesus’ teaching on the greatest commandment which ties all of these together in love. Join us as we reflect on these core teachings of our faith.

“Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.”
1 John 5:3 NLT
